The fine entry of the bow and clean exit of the stern provide exceptional glide. The efficiency of the hull, combined with its rock solid stability and surprising tracking, make the Manitou Sport far out perform all of its competitors. A rear bulkhead and hatch (neoprene with hard cover) are standard making the Sport safe enough to truly bridge the gap between stability and performance.

Necky Chatham Composite
Chatham 17 Composite
The Chatham is available in 16′, 17′ and 18′ models for the right fit. The 17′ models are shown above in Polyethylene and composite. The flowing lines of the Chatham series are inspired by classic west Greenland designs. It is a snug fitting boat that should be paddled. The Chatham series of boats inspires confidence and skills development for beginners and experienced paddlers alike. If you are a fan of Greenland style paddling and rolling, the Chatham is a boat you should try on for size.
The 16′ and 17′ are built to minimize windage, have great maneuverability and superb rough water performance. The Chatham 18′ is an extremely capable passage-maker with a good turn of speed, great sea-worthiness and surprising stability for such a slender craft. While still very nimble, the 18′ is somewhat stiffer tracking and a little less maneuverable than her shorter sisters, the 16′ and 17′.
The hull has a very full chine, which provides great stability for a boat of this beam and quick response to edging and lean turns. The rear deck facilitates lay-back style kayak rolls. Volume in the bow is carried well forward ensuring good resurfacing characteristics when riding wind waves or punching surf. A drop skeg, three bulkheads, full deck rigging including perimeter lines and waterproof VCP hatches complete the package. The cockpit is one of the best examples of commercial fitting out.
This boat comes alive in coastal exploration through surf zones, rock gardens and convoluted tidal rips. If you love to play in the swells and rips, the Chatham is a boat you need to paddle. Composite construction is considerably lighter and much stiffer than the poly model.
Layup Options: Advanced Composite Fiberglass or Advanced Composite Carbon. The 16′ and 17′ are also available in durable, roto-molded Polyethylene.
